We've got to show mental toughness - Kapoulas

Andreas Kapoulas gave an honest assessment of Saturday night's encounter with Worcester Wolves, who ran away 94-96 winners over the Flyers after five minutes of overtime.

Bristol looked set to earn their second win of the season, before Coach Kapoulas’ side let slip a 22 point lead as Worcester maintained their 100% record in the Southern Conference of the BBL Cup.

Fred Thomas gave Bristol their biggest lead with just five minutes to play in the third - but in a crucial 14-2 run either side of the third quarter break, Worcester caught fire from deep, which ultimately proved to be Flyers’ downfall.

Speaking to Bristol Flyers TV Kapoulas said: “It hurts, it’s a tough loss for us to take at home.

Lewis Champion finished with a BBL career-high 20 points

“We need to show mental toughness when we're ahead like that. We expected them to make a run in the second half and It became anyone's game when it went into overtime.

“We can see glimpses of the team that we want to be, but I think in the three games that we’ve played so far, we need to be more consistent on both ends of the court for longer stretches of the game - that’s what it takes to win in the BBL.”

Limited standing and courtside tickets remain for the South West Derby against Plymouth Raiders on Friday, October 11th.
