We’re getting better every day - Kapoulas

Andreas Kapoulas hailed an excellent performance from his Bristol Flyers side, as they picked up a third straight pre-season victory against Team Basketball Wales at the SGS WISE Campus.

Twenty points apiece from Fred Thomas and Marcus Delpeche ensured Flyers head into Monday’s final pre-season encounter against Worcester Wolves off the back of a positive result, and Kapoulas was in no doubt it was one they richly deserved.

"There were a lot of positive things for us out there as a team," he told Bristol Flyers TV.

"I think we worked hard for the full 40 minutes, but there’s still room for us to improve defensively.

"We’re trying to build our habits for the coming season and I think communication on both ends is a priority. Team chemistry is really good and everyone is on the same boat at this point of the season.

"We’ve passed this test, but now we need to concentrate on our friendly against Worcester on Monday."

Flyers head into Monday’s pre-season clash against the Wolves having won their opening three pre-season games and Kapoulas is excited about the prospect of competing against BBL opposition.

"We’ve been talking to the guys a lot over the last few weeks about playing BBL opposition, so now we have an opportunity to put it into practice and we’re really looking forward to it.

"Monday will be a different challenge and Worcester will be a much more physical team. They’ve had a lot of changes over the summer so it will be difficult game for us.
"Those are the type of games we want to play. We want to be at our best for that first BBL game against London City Royals, so the Worcester game will be vital for us to get up to speed against BBL competition.

"I like where we are in terms of physical shape, I think we’re very athletic and there are a lot of positive things that we haven’t seen before from a Flyers team.

"It’s early days at the moment, we’re still learning a lot about each other and we want to be ready when it maters most. That’s always been our target.”

Flyers host the league’s newest team, London City Royals in the 2018/19 season opener on Saturday, September 22nd.
