We need to stay mentally ready - Goodwin

Rohndell Goodwin understands the importance of Friday’s potential play-off clinching tie with Cheshire Phoenix (7.30pm).

A win for interim coach Nick Burns’ side will guarantee Flyers’ place in the postseason for a second year in a row, with the game being broadcast LIVE worldwide on the BBC Sport website.

Flyers have beaten Ben Thomas’ side twice in the last month, but Goodwin is expecting Cheshire to enter the game wth a 'noting to lose’ mentality, with their play-off fate still hanging in the balance.

"It’s always hard to beat a team three times in a row, so we need to stay mentally ready going into the game,” Goodwin told bristolflyers.co.uk.

“Everything’s good when you win and we’re in really high spirits right now.

“We lost our last two games on BBC Sport, but we know we can clinch a spot (in the play-offs) with a win, so this time we’re going in there to handle business.

“With a team like Cheshire, they’re going to come in more freely. There’s no pressure on them, so we know they’re going to come in hard."

"They have Gettys back too, who wasn’t there in the last game against us, so we need to go in there focussed and be prepared for what’s coming ahead.

"We’re looking to get in the play-offs and we want to go on a run, our goal is to finish in the top six but we don’t want to think too far ahead.

“We need to take this Cheshire game very seriously - the next couple of weeks is going to be big for us.”

Friday’s game against Cheshire Phoenix will be available to watch LIVE on the BBC Sport website from 7.30pm.
