Video: Kapoulas On Crucial South-West Derby

Andreas Kapoulas sat down with Bristol Flyers TV in an extended interview ahead of a very important weekend for the club.

The Flyers travel to Plymouth on Friday night to renew their south-west rivalry with the Raiders in front of the BBC Sport cameras (7.30pm), before hosting eighth-placed Surrey Scorchers at the WISE Arena just 24 hours later.

With the season series currently tied at one game apiece, victory at the Plymouth Pavilions will see Coach K’s men leapfrog their south-west rivals in the BBL Championship standings.

"It’s a very important weekend, we’ve been working all year long for this,” Kapoulas told Bristol Flyers TV.

“We’re starting a series of double header weekends right up until the end of the season, so having a two week break was very important to help rest our players.

“We know what’s at stake and we just focus on one game at a time and performing the best we can do on the court."

Flyers face a wounded Raiders side, who struggled to show their best on the big stage as they were swept aside 91-58 by Leicester Riders in last Sunday’s BBL Trophy Final.

Just two points separate the sides at tip-off, but the Flyers come into the game off the back of three straight wins while the hosts have one just two of their last ten games.

“I think Plymouth are a very talented team. They’ve got very capable scorers and everyone goes through a slump during the season.

It only takes one moment for a team to find confidence so we can not underestimate them - let’s not forget they beat us on our home court a couple of months ago.

“We’re expecting a very competitive game and we’ve got to make sure we focus on what we do well on both ends of the court.

Tune in to watch Plymouth Raiders v Bristol Flyers LIVE on the BBC Sport website, app and connected TVs from 7.30pm GMT on Friday night.
