VACANCY: Bristol Flyers Strength and Conditioning Coach

Bristol Flyers seek a part-time strength and conditioning coach to join the team ahead of the 2021/22 British Basketball League (BBL) season.



General Responsibilities:

  • Programme and deliver weekly S&C sessions to the BBL team (generally 2-3 sessions per week)
  • Deliver S&C programmes that reflect the demands of the sport, the athlete’s physical competencies and their position
  • Educate athletes in their understanding of S&C principles whilst providing opportunities to develop a rounded athletic skill set and sports specific physical qualities 
  • Carry out appropriate monitoring and physical profiling of athletes to inform training prescription, set physical targets and provide information and feedback to athletes and coaches 
  • Monitor weekly individual training load and use data to inform practice
  • Deliver recovery, mobility and injury prevention sessions as required
  • Liaise regularly with all coaches and support staff to ensure a consistent framework of best practice is adhered to
  • Ensure the S&C environment is complying with all health and safety requirements 
  • Carry out any other tasks as requested by club management 

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential: 

  • A degree in strength and conditioning or a related discipline
  • Minimum one year experience within the discipline of Strength and Conditioning
  • Experience monitoring training load and using results to inform practice
  • Experience and knowledge of delivering effective recovery, mobility and injury prevention programmes

Desiarable: 

  • Working towards, or willing to work towards, UKSCA/NSCA CSCS qualifications
  • Experience working in elite sport
  • Experience and understanding of basketball and the demands of the game

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Outstanding communication skills in a variety of environments
  • Professional approach and presence
  • Willingness to work variable hours depending on weekly game schedule
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours or travelling between sites
