This is a valuable lesson for us - Kapoulas

Andreas Kapoulas says there were lessons learned from his side's crushing defeat to London City Royals in the BBL Cup.

The Flyers suffered their first defeat of the 2019/20 campaign at Crystal Palace, despite a strong start which saw them take a seven point lead at the end of the first quarter.

London City Royals flipped the game on its head in the second quarter with a ferocious 17-0 spell, to retake the lead for the remainder of the game.

"This is a valuable lesson for us - we know what went wrong and we’re going to work hard in practice to fix it," Kapoulas told Bristol Flyers TV.

"We need to be consistent on the defensive end. I felt we lost our concentration in the second quarter and that allowed them to get out in transition and build a big lead.

"We only had nine assists and 16 turnovers - that’s not the way that we want to play the game.

"It needs to be a full 40 minute performance - that certainly didn’t happen tonight and we ended up paying the price against a very strong London City Royals team."

Limited tickets remain for the visit of Worcester Wolves in the BBL Cup on Saturday, October 10th.
