SGS College to remain an elite partner to Bristol Flyers

Bristol Flyers is proud to continue its elite partnership with SGS College for the 2018/19 season.

The club are entering the second of a three-year deal for the first team to train and play their home games at the college’s WISE Campus, with the SGS Sport logo also featuring on the shoulder of the Flyers’ home and away playing kit.

SGS Sport is an integral part of SGS College and the Flyers’ player pathway, and has only ever received the top rating of “outstanding” by Ofsted since its inception more than a decade ago.

The WISE Campus has incredible facilities for elite level athletes, including a state of the art gym, a deluxe film review room, ice baths and a fully equipped physiotherapists suite.

Former students from the basketball academy have long enjoyed recruitment into further education in the United States, and pursuing professional playing careers with the Flyers.

"We are extremely thankful for the support from SGS College and we would not be in the position that we are as a club without them as a partner,” said Flyers head coach Andreas Kapoulas.

"Over the years the partnership has allowed us to grow on and off the court as well as enhance our already existing high performance pathway for young aspiring players who want to continue with their academic aspirations as well as excel in  their basketball ambitions.

"It is a pleasure to see an organisation such as SGS College and its CEO Kevin Hamblin showing their outstanding commitment to sport and specifically basketball and we are very appreciative of all their efforts to help our club to continue to grow."

Kevin Hamblin, Group Chief Executive & Executive Principal for SGS College added: "The College established a Basketball Academy in 2003, we developed a purpose built basketball facility in 2005 and since then we have grown the Club into one of the largest in the Country for boys and girls.

"The college partnership with Bristol Sport created the Flyers, a Basketball side in the highest league in the UK and so young people have the fantastic opportunity to participate in a great sport from U10 to playing professionally. We are delighted to continue to provide facilities and a pathway to ensure Bristol Flyers go from strength to strength."
