Report: London Lions 85-74 Bristol Flyers

Bristol Flyers came up short on the road against London Lions in the BBL Championship.

Eric Lockett had a great all around game with 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Marcus Delpeche went to work on the low block for a smooth hook shot and then dunked a well-delivered pass from Lockett. Baker connected from outside the arc and then hustled for an offensive rebound and put back score. Josh Wilcher opened up an early seven point lead with a three-pointer.

Lions responded by working the ball into the paint, getting good looks at the basket. A second three from Wilcher undid the damage. London’s full court press was effective in generating turnovers. Teddy Okereafor exploited a mismatch to spin past his defender for a lay-up. Flyers found themselves in foul trouble closing out the quarter 16-19.

Fahro Alihodzic was effective for Lions to start the second quarter, scoring seven quick points. Ben Mockford responded by blowing by the defence to finish with a reverse lay-up. Lockett was able to get out ahead of the Lions press and get scores in transition. London turned to their outside shooting late in the quarter and with multiple shooting threats on their deep roster were able to edge back ahead 40-39 at half-time.

Lions opened up the lead in the third with Flyers struggling to keep pace. DeAndre Liggins found Orlando Parker good looks around the basket. Delpeche was effective in getting great paint position to get to the line, but Bristol were unable to generate defensive stops. Dirk Williams finished the quarter with a three-pointer on his way to a game-high 19 points, putting Flyers behind 66-55.

A Justin Robinson three opened the final quarter and the game looked like it could run away from Flyers. Ball movement was generating decent looks at the basket, but Flyers could not convert their three point attempts, finishing on 24% from deep. Despite their shooting struggles, the game remained competitive in the closing minutes. Williams finished the night with a final three-pointer to secure the win 85-74.
