Flyers U14s I Show Determination to Secure Second National League Win.
Flyers U14s I played their second game of the season in the National League, against a strong JMA Reading Rockets. The team selected was Sameer Ahmed, Hassan Ali, Alex Carey, Alex Millman, James Panso, Ewan Strover, Reece Strover, Nathan Symons, Louie Tucker, Louie West and Finley Woodward.
Flyers started the game slowly with poor rebounding and a lack of defence, resulting in a disappointing score 20-13 down at the end of the first quarter. However, a determined team came out of the huddle wanting to stay in the game. Flyers started to obtain the rebounds and played some good defence, coming together as a unit and working well at both ends of the floor. Strong scoring saw Flyers finish the half with a ten point lead.
The second half started with a pumped up team determined to hold on to their lead. Reading Rockets came back at Flyers with a run of their own but with good teamwork Flyers prevented them from closing the gap and headed into the last period 57-46 up.
The final quarter saw Rockets apply more pressure forcing The Flyers to turn over the ball and they were able to get back in to the game. Flyers had come too far to throw the game away and finished strongly, holding on to win 67-62.
Top rebounders were Alex Millman and Hassan Ali with 8 rebounds each.
Top scorers were Hassan Ali (13) and Ewan Strover (12).
Game report by Alex Millman.
