Plymouth Raiders v Bristol Flyers
BBL Championship
Sunday, March 20th
Plymouth Pavilions
Bristol Flyers look to maintain their 100% winning record over their south-west rivals at the Plymouth Pavilions on Sunday afternoon (4pm tip-off).
All you need to know on Sunday’s BBL opponents can be found below.
PLYMOUTH RAIDERS
One of the oldest teams in the country, Raiders have been competing in the EBL and now the BBL for 33 years. Spending their formative years struggling towards the bottom end of the EBL, a move to the Plymouth Pavilions in 1996 saw the team’s fortune’s dramatically change. At their new home Plymouth consistently finished in the top four of the EBL before making the step up to the BBL in 2004. Raiders’ best finish in the BBL came in 2008 when coach Gary Stronach led the team to third in the Championship and to the semi-finals of the play-offs.
HEAD COACH
Daryl Corletto - Corletto was named player/coach of the Raiders following the sudden departure of former Head Coach Jay Marriott earlier this season. The 34-year-old has won multiple titles as a player with Melbourne Tigers and New Zealand Breakers in the NBL. Corletto also leads the league in scoring, averaging 19.2 points per game.
ONE TO WATCH
Corey Dixon - The 6ft7in forward joined the Raiders back in December following the departure of Auryn MacMillan earlier in the month. Like Flyers’ forward Tyrone Lee, Dixon has previous experience in the Australian SEABL league where he finished second in the league in rebounding, and was a runner-up for Player of the Year averaging of over 20 points and 11 rebounds per game.
