Sunday, November 15th, 5.30pm
Bristol Flyers face Cheshire Phoenix looking to make the semi-finals of the BBL Cup for the second successive season.
Everything you need to know about Cheshire Phoenix can be found below.
CHESHIRE PHOENIX
After a 4th place finish in the BBL last season, the Cheshire Phoenix left their long-term home at the Northgate Arena, to the brand new Cheshire Oaks venue, where they are yet to notch their first home win of the season. Cheshire originally began life as Ellesmere Port Jets in 1986, joining the NBL Division Two and having a poor first season as they won just one of their eighteen games. An improvement the following season saw them win seven games, and they changed their name to Cheshire Jets – though they remained based in Ellesmere Port. They continued to improve, and lifted their first title in 1991, winning the NBL Division One.
HEAD COACH
John Lavery – Lavery takes control of the Phoenix one again following the departure of John Coffino over the summer. The former England international has had two spells as Head Coach of the Nix, leading them to the BBL Play-Offs on both occasions.
ONE TO WATCH
David Aliu – The British forward enters his second season with the Nix, after joining from the Manchester Giants in June 2014. The Liverpudlian made 33 appearances for the Phoenix last season, averaging 14.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
OFFICIALS
Taking charge of Sunday’s game will be Darren Bolt, Piotr Florecki and Ian Spearman
