Saturday, February 21st, 7.30pm

Bristol Flyers return to the SGS WISE Arena this Saturday looking to make it four wins against Plymouth Raiders this season (7.30pm tip-off).

All the key information on Saturday’s BBL opponents can be found below.

PLYMOUTH RAIDERS
One of the oldest teams in the country, Raiders have been competing in the EBL and now the BBL for 32 years. Spending their formative years struggling towards the bottom end of the EBL, a move to the Plymouth Pavilions in 1996 saw the team’s fortune’s dramatically change. At their new home Plymouth consistently finished in the top 4 of the EBL before making the step up to the BBL in 2004.

Perennial play-off hopefuls, Raiders’ best finish in the BBL came in 2008 when coach Gary Stronach led the team to 3rd in the Championship and to the semi-finals of the play-offs. Coach Stronach left Raiders in 2010 with the team continuing to threaten the play-off positions over the following seasons. This year has proved challenging with Raiders sitting two places and six points behind Flyers in 11th but with enough games in hand to launch a late charge for the play-offs.

COACH
Jay Marriott – Raiders Head Coach Jay Marriott has been in charge since the beginning of last season, taking over following American coach Gavin Love’s sacking. Formerly Raiders Academy Head Coach, Marriott led the team to 9th in his first season in charge narrowly missing out on a play-off position on head-to-head records.

STAR MAN
Brent Benson – American Guard Benson signed for Raiders at the start of the season following an impressive season with the struggling Birmingham Knights in which he was BBL’s second-highest points scorer, averaging 23.1 points per game. Benson has continued this season in prolific form, leading the league in made threes, and second in average points with 19.7.
