LEEDS FORCE
Originally established as Leeds Carnegie, the team rebranded as Leeds Force heading into their first year in the top-flight alongside the Bristol Flyers. The Force had a respectable first season in their inaugural BBL campaign, There’s no love lost between the Flyers and the Force, as they look to resume a long-term rivalry dating back to their time in EBL Division One.
HEAD COACH
Matt Newby – Newby is also Director of Basketball at Leeds University and has a strong focus on developing domestic talent. Like the Flyers, this is Newby’s second season in the BBL and he’ll be looking to finish the season on a high despite bowing out of the BBL Play-Off race last season.
ONE TO WATCH
Zak Wells – After being sidelined with a serious injury for the majority of last season, Wells almost acts as a brand new signing for Coach Newby this season. The 7ft Brit earned a Great Britain call-up in July and went on to make his debut against the New Zealand Tall Blacks at the Copper Box Arena in London.
