Bristol Flyers look to strengthen their play-off chances this weekend against Glasgow Rocks at the SGS WISE Arena.
All the key information on Saturday’s BBL opponents can be found below.
GLASGOW ROCKS
Originally established as the Edinburgh Rocks in 1998, the team rebranded as the Scottish Rocks in 2002 following a move 45 miles west to Glasgow. The club once again renamed to become the Glasgow Rocks in 2009 following a new long-term agreement with Glasgow City Council. The team moved into their current home at The Emirates Arena in 2012, where games are played in both the Main Arena and the smaller Sports Hall.
COACH
Sterling Davis – A joint player/coach, Davis signed for the Rocks in 2006, after spells with fellow BBL sides Sheffield Sharks (2004–2006), London Towers (2003) and Brighton Bears (2001–2003). He scored a career-high 42 points on March 1st 2011 in a game against the Guildford Heat.
STAR MAN
Kieran Achara – The 6ft 10in forward made his debut for the Rocks in 2010 during an 80-76 win over the Sheffield Sharks. Following two successful years in Spain, and a number of spells across Europe, Achara re-signed for the Rocks for the 2014-15 season. The GB international was a part of the British Basketball team, which took part in the London 2012 Olympics, and Achara played a major role in the only victory of the tournament for the team against China. Achara leads the league in free throw shooting, averaging 89% from the foul line, whilst leading the team in scoring with an average of 15.1 points per game.
LAST TIME OUT
Flyers suffered the heaviest of three losses against the Rocks this season, in a 84-57 defeat in the second leg of the BBL Cup semi-final.
