Glasgow Rocks v Bristol Flyers
BBL Championship
Saturday, February 10th 2018
SGS WISE Arena
After losing to Glasgow Rocks in front of the BBC cameras last week, Bristol Flyers take on the Rocks once again on Saturday night (7:30pm).
Everything you need to know on Saturday's opponents can be found below.
By consistently making the BBL Play-Offs year after year and putting together strong cup runs, Glasgow Rocks are one of the marquee teams in the BBL. Despite only winning the BBL Championship once, Rocks are a continued threat in the league; something Bristol Flyers know all about.
After last week’s win over Flyers, Rocks are keeping the pressure on second place Newcastle Eagles with a record of 13-7.
Rocks’ Head Coach Tony Garbelotto has a wealth of experience, with successful coaching stints in Germany and Vietnam. As a 2011 BBL champion, two-time BBL Play-Off champion, one-time BBL Cup and Trophy winner, Garbelotto has made a name for himself in the BBL. His reputation earned him 2011 Coach of the Year honours, and this year he was appointed Great Britain’s Head Coach.
Rocks began last season with a promising start, winning the majority of their first ten games. However, as a result of poor form around Christmas, Glasgow dropped in the standings and failed to recover.
Rocks still finished in third place with an impressive record of 21-12; however, Glasgow could not help but feel that they had let an opportunity to win the BBL championship slip away
Glasgow Rocks’ forward Alasdair Fraser scorched Bristol in their previous meeting for 20 points.
The 6’7 forward caused problems with his size and ability to stretch the floor with his shooting. Fraser comes into the contest averaging just under 14 points per game. Flyers had a good opportunity to scout him last week, and will likely want to contain the Scottish national upon his return to the WISE arena.
Despite Rohndell Goodwin’s 16 points and seven rebounds, Bristol Flyers lost a tight contest to fall to 8-9 on the season in front of the BBC Sport cameras.
Glasgow Rocks lead the league in free throws per game.
Saturday’s game will be available to watch LIVE via the BBL’s official streaming partner, LiveBaketball.TV (subscription) - click here to sign up NOW.
Please note, SGS College has introduced paid parking, however the club has reached an agreement with Aviva insurance, a short five minute walk away from the WISE campus for fans to use their car park free of charge.
