Olivia Atkinson has been named the 2018 Bristol Flyers fan of the year.
The Fan of the Year is an annual award for a supporter who has shown dedication and commitment beyond the norm in supporting the Flyers over the course of the season.
Olivia started watching the Flyers in 2015 and has become a superfan ever since. After joining the Flyers’ Basketball Centre on Saturday mornings, Roy Owen quickly became her favourite player and she now plays for the Bristol Flyers’ Under-10s girls programme.
Owen presented Olivia with her ‘fan of the year’ signed jersey during half-time of Friday’s BBL play-off semi-final first leg against Leicester Riders.
“Olivia is a Flyers superfan and is ecstatic to receive this award,” said Olivia’s mum Amy Atkinson.
"Her favourite hobby after basketball is baking and she always makes cookies for the team to have after each home game.
"Her bedroom wall is covered in posters of the team too and her confidence has grown massively thanks to the encouragement she receives from the Flyers men and women's first-team players.
“We have made lifelong friends through Bristol Flyers and we have both become will fans for life.”
After witnessing many memorable moments with the Flyers, both Olivia and Amy have decided to renew their season cards for the 2018/19 campaign.
Bristol Flyers 2018/19 season cards are now on general sale until the advanced period deadline on Friday, May 18th at 5pm.
