We are delighted to announce that Mike Miller has put pen to paper on a new contract with the Bristol Flyers.
The 24-year-old guard has agreed terms on a one-year deal with the club, becoming the first player to commit to Andreas Kapoulas’ 2022/23 BBL roster.
Miller first joined the Flyers from Den Helder Suns in the Dutch Basketball League (DBL), where he made 22 appearances during the 2019/20 season, posting an average of 12.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
He averaged 9.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Flyers last season, but unfortunately missed the majority of the 2021/22 campaign through injury.
Miller returned to full fitness in time for the play-offs, where he posted a season-high 33 points in the second leg of the quarter-final against Manchester Giants, including the series-clinching jump shot, which will live long in the memory of the Flyers family.
Speaking on his new contract, Miller said: “I'm very pleased and excited! Bristol felt like home from the very first time I stepped foot in the city and I met so many genuine people. To return for a second season couldn’t be a greater feeling.
"Last season we accomplished a lot of great things and it was definitely a stepping stone in the right direction, but ultimately there’s unfinished business.
“We want to reignite the buzz that we created around the city of Bristol during the playoffs and we are more than capable of doing that with coach’s ability to bring a talented group of guys together along with the huge support from our fan base.
“Our goal this year is to build off of our accomplishments last season and to win a championship. The team will look a little different, but the goal will be exactly the same.”
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said: We are excited that Mike has signed a new deal and that he is returning for a second season with the club.
"He was unfortunate to sustain an injury last season that kept him off the court for a significant amount of time. He worked extremely hard to get back on the floor and was a great teammate during that period.
"Having him back on the court for the last stretch of the season was really important to our team and I know how hungry he is to show his full potential this season.
"He is an experienced hard-working professional, we know what he offers to the team and his aggressive, dynamic style of play is exactly what we look for in a Bristol Flyers player."
