Mayindombe makes BBL return with Bristol Flyers

Bristol Flyers can confirm Greek guard, Panos Mayindombe has joined the club ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The 29-year-old returns for his second year in the BBL, following a one-year spell with the Durham Wildcats in 2014, where he made 33 appearances for the club, averaging 7.9 points per game.

Mayindombe becomes the ninth player to commit to Bristol Flyers ahead of the 2017/18 BBL season.

“I’m very excited to play for the Bristol Flyers and I’m really looking forward to the new season,” Mayindombe told Bristol Flyers TV.

“I spoke to Coach Kapoulas and he told me the club have very high ambitions.”

“He eventually wants the team to play in Europe - that's a big goal of mine and I really want to be a part of that.

"I’m willing to do whatever it takes to win and give 100% every time I step out on the court.

“I’d like to thank Durham (Wildcats) for everything they have done for me and I can't wait to meet the players, the fans and the staff at Bristol Flyers."

Mayindombe will link up with his new team-mates for the start of pre-season training, as preparations ramp up for the Flyers' fourth season in the top flight of British Basketball.

"Panos is a player with a high level of experience in Greece and already has a season of BBL basketball under his belt,” said head coach Andreas Kapoulas.

"I was very glad to hear that he made the decision to move to Bristol and I could tell from our first conversation that he is a very passionate and driven person."
