Report: Bristol Flyers 91-77 London City Royals

Bristol Flyers reached their first ever BBL Cup Final, after securing a 175-159 aggregate win over London City Royals.

Coach Kapoulas’ men claimed a 91-77 win on the night after edging the first leg 84-82 last weekend.

Gentrey Thomas hit 21 points on his way to a double-double, adding 13 rebounds and seven assists - including a game-sealing triple inside the final five minutes to cap 10 unanswered points after Royals got back within four.

WHAT HAPPENED

Carrying just a two point lead from the first leg, Bristol stormed to an early 14-2 run on Saturday night, a lead which they would hold for the rest of the game.

After leading 22-17 at the end of the first, a Lewis Champion triple pushed the lead back out to double figures, before a frantic finish to the half saw Gentrey Thomas beat the buzzer to put Bristol ahead 44-30 at half-time.

Despite losing the third period by one, Flyers remained in control until a 12-2 burst from the visitors set up a tense finish with five minutes to play.

Leading by just four points on the night, Coach K’s men responded with back-to-back threes from Champion and Gentrey Thomas in the fourth, before Marcus Delpeche put the icing on the cake with a pair of dunks to punch the Flyers’ ticket to the showpiece final.

The Flyers will face either Leicester Riders or Worcester Wolves in the BBL Cup final at Arena Birmingham on Sunday, January 26th.
