Kapoulas snaps up Trailblazer Chris Taylor

Bristol Flyers can confirm British American guard, Chis Taylor has joined the club ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Taylor steps up to the BBL, following a two-year spell in NBL Division One with the Derby Trailblazers, where he averaged 12.5 points per game, whilst leading the league in steals last season with 2.4 per game.

The 26-year-old becomes the 11th player to commit to Bristol Flyers ahead of the 2017/18 season.

“I’m really looking forward to playing for the Flyers, and my first experience of the BBL,” Taylor told bristolflyers.co.uk.

"It’s going to be a big learning process for me - I played at a high level last year, but the BBL is a further step forward. 

"My experience with Derby really helped me become a better player. I played extended minutes in a very well coached programme.”

Taylor will be looking to kick start his BBL career, whilst studying at the University of West of England on a two-year masters degree.

"I’m doing a part-time masters degree in exercise psychology, which means I'm going to be in Bristol for two years whilst playing for the Flyers,” he revealed.

“I’m really excited to contribute to a talented team which I feel is heading for great success this season."

Prior to joining the Trailblazers, Taylor previously played NCAA Division Two basketball with the Chadron State Eagles in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, where he scored 111 points in his senior year.

"Chris is a talented player that had a very good season with Derby in Division One last year,” said Flyers’ head coach, Andreas Kapoulas.

"His addition adds depth to our squad, and in the short time that he has been with us it's evident that he will fit very well in our programme.

"The fact that he will be in Bristol for the next two years will give him the opportunity to enhance his game and build his experience of what it takes to be a consistent performer in this league.”
