Kapoulas reflects on day one of pre-season

Andreas Kapoulas says he has been pleased with the level of fitness as Bristol Flyers returned to pre-season training ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The squad returned to the WISE Campus for the first time in six months on Monday, as pre-season as preparations ramp up for Coach Kapoulas’ 16th season as Bristol Flyers Head Coach.

Speaking to Bristol Flyers TV, he said: “It’s been a great feeling. It was six months since our last competitive game against Glasgow and everyone has arrived in great shape.

“We’ve spent so much time on zoom calls over the last few months. Even though the players haven’t been with us, they’ve been training at home and following our strength and conditioning programmes.

“We’ve been doing small group sessions over the last three or four weeks, but we’re slowly building it up into full 5v5 contact situations in the weeks to come.

"Everyone is excited to be on the court, but it is a gradual approach and we’ve got to follow the process to make sure everyone is ready when competition starts.

“We have a core of players that have been with us for quite a while, so that certainly helps, but we have a couple of pre-season games in place to fine tune what we want to do on the court.”

Existing Bristol Flyers Season Card holders still have time to renew their Season Card ahead of the 2020/21 season before they go on general sale.
