The female programme relaunched in 2020 and as the only Elite Basketball Academy in the region, SGS College is working hard to develop its female offering to the same level. SGS Basketball Academy is part of an established pathway with Bristol Flyers to offer junior girls and senior women's Division One National League opportunities to its athletes.

As part of the SGS Basketball Academy, students have the opportunity to combine a high level of academic study with an elite basketball experience.

Players have a broad choice of academic options including A-Levels and BTEC as well as a range of other vocational courses.

Former SGS Basketball Academy students Estella Maloney and Layla Hall credit their time at SGS as playing a key role in their development on and off the court.

Layla Hall, current WBBL player for Gloucester City Queens said: "I loved my time at SGS College. I got to combine my studies and basketball in a cohesive three years, and was coached by high level experienced coaches that made my time memorable and enjoyable."

Estella Maloney, current NBL Division One player for Worcester Wolves added: “I really appreciated my time being a part of SGS Basketball Academy. It was a great environment for me to develop as a player while balancing my A levels. I was challenged everyday, but challenged in the best way, and the Academy showed me what it would really take to be a student-athlete and succeed at both. Going to SGS definitely gave me options and helped me transition into University, balancing student-athlete life at the next level. I now play Division One WNBL and owe a lot of my development, dedication and hustle to the Academy."

Students have the opportunity to combine a high level of academic study with an elite basketball experience.

All students benefit from elite-level coaching and exceptional facilities alongside regular strength, conditioning and physiotherapy support.

SGS Basketball Academy is keen to hear from all female players that are interested in this exciting opportunity.
