Bristol Flyers has a unique opportunity for a talented Media Executive to join our in-house communications team at Bristol Sport and play a key role in the club’s journey to the Ashton Gate Sporting Quarter.

The Flyers growth trajectory means there’s never been a better time to get involved. We are now building towards the next exciting stage of our journey, with the proposed Ashton Gate Sport and Convention Centre - a 4,000 seat multi-purpose venue for the Flyers, which is expected to open during the 2024/25 season.

This role will help to lead the way in content production and managing all Bristol Flyers social media platforms - the successful applicant will be social savvy, with a background in content creation and the ability to help spot trends and opportunities to reach new audiences.

The role will be a full-time position based in Bristol and will involve travelling to every Bristol Flyers game, working weekends frequently during the basketball season. The Media Executive will report to the Head of Communications for Bristol Flyers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day to day maintenance of the Bristol Flyers website and social media channels (including coverage of all home and away games for Bristol Flyers).
Help drive Bristol Flyers’ overall fan engagement strategy by creating compelling, entertaining and informative content all year round.
Drive consistent growth across the club’s digital platforms, including web, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other relevant platforms.
Seek and manage PR opportunities for Bristol Flyers to enhance its brand and reach new audiences.
Continuously measure content performance and provide monthly reporting updates to the internal team to help adapt strategies and ensure the club is always at the forefront of delivery.
Be an industry expert – stay informed of technological development and audience trends to best inform the club’s content strategies.
Supplying content to external media publishers, players, and other key stakeholders

The Ideal Candidate

We welcome recent graduates or confident self-starters, experience of working in a professional environment is beneficial. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creatively capturing and editing video, understanding how to optimise the same content for a variety of different platforms.

Experienced user of the Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro and Photoshop essential. After Effects experience is desirable)
Comfortable with working a range of cameras, including Sony and Canon models for video and photo.
A degree in a media-related subject is desirable
Experience in Sports journalism
Familiarity with working in a Mac OS environment
A social media addict - particularly with a high understanding of TikTok, Instagram and how to leverage social influencers.
Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work well on a team and independently.
A willingness to be flexible; working out-of-hours and weekends, and to tight deadlines with limited supervision.
A keen interest in British Basketball and the NBA.
Full driving license and vehicle

Candidates should live within easily commuting distance of the Bristol Sport office at Ashton Gate Stadium (BS3 2LQ).
Candidates should be aware of the unsociable hours relating to working within professional sport (evenings, weekends and bank holidays). 37.5 hours per week, 5 days over 7.
