Cheshire Phoenix

Cheshire Phoenix formed in 2012, rising from the ashes of the Cheshire Jets, who preceded them who were originally founded in 1984. Phoenix have made a good start to the season having gone 4-4 in the Northern group of in the BBL Cup group stage.

HEAD COACH

Ben Thomas is in his sixth season at the helm for the Nix. He led the club to a BBL Cup win in 2018 and they have been a consistent post-season presence since.

Coach Thomas has clearly been impressed with Flyers rosters in recent years and has recruited three former players for the 2021/22 season. Levi Bradley is back in the UK and continuing to show his effectiveness as a scoring option having featured for Flyers in the 2019/20 season.

Thomas has also signed GB internationals Teddy Okereafor and Ben Mockford, a duo who starred for Flyers throughout last year. Okereafor has led Cheshire in assists and steals so far this season.

ONE TO WATCH

Namon Wright will also be a familiar face to Flyers fans having starred for Leicester Riders in the 2019/20 season. The 6’5” wing has led the Nix in scoring so far this season averaging 18 points per game.

LAST TIME OUT

Cheshire hosted the Mike Burton Invitational pre-season tournament in September and split a pair of fixtures with Flyers. Flyers lost 64-59 to the Nix on Saturday September 19th and then claimed a 56-64 win the following day.
