Andreas Kaplouas has spoken of his delight after securing Daniel Edozie for his fifth year with the Bristol Flyers.
Edozie has continued his loyal service to the club after agreeing a new one-year deal, becoming the third player to commit to Coach Ks squad for the 2019/20 campaign.
But it was more than just the on-court performances that convinced Kapoulas to bring the England international back for another season.
“Dan’s been with us for four years and he's really developed his game over that time,” he told bristolflyers.co.uk.
“There's the contribution that he puts in regarding stats, but he also has a great basketball IQ. He impacts our team both on and off the court.
“He's a great ambassador for the club, a great role model and he also has experience on the international stage - that makes him valuable for us in so many ways.
"He’s seen all the difficulties that we've gone through in the BBL and he knows what it means to get it done - it's great to see him return to the floor in a year that will be very important for us."
Edozie joined the Flyers from Iowa State University in 2015 and went on to lead the BBL in rebounds in his debut season (10.9), notching 12 double-doubles in 33 appearances for the club.
His consistent form in the league earned him a call up to Coach Kapoulas’ Team England squad for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, whilst also playing a key role in helping Flyers to their highest league finish of sixth, along with a trip to the final four of the BBL play-offs.
Last season saw Edozie named club captain, where he recorded his 1,000th career rebound and was named the 2019 Fans’ Player of the Year.
There’s just 50 Bristol Flyers season cards remaining for the 2019/20 season.
