Goodwin doubt for South West Derby

Andreas Kapoulas remains hopeful Rohndell Goodwin will be available to play in Sunday’s South West derby against Plymouth Raiders.

The American guard is a doubt for the Flyers’ trip to the Pavilions, after landing awkwardly on his ankle in Friday night’s 90-100 defeat to Surrey Scorchers.

“It’s an ankle sprain, we just need to see how serious it is,” Kapoulas told Bristol Flyers TV.

"We didn’t want to take any risks, there are plenty of games ahead and we want to make sure Rohndell is healthy. We just have to assess it and make a decision ahead of Sunday’s game.”

Flyers head into Sunday’s South West derby off the back of a ten point defeat to Creon Raftopolous’ side.

Tony Hicks poured in a game-high 31 points for the visitors and added eight assists and five steals in a standout performance.

"We did not play with any sense of urgency throughout the whole game,” Kapoulas added.

"They wanted to play an up-tempo game and we didn’t defend well. We allowed them to score 24 or more points in each quarter and they scored 100 points on our home court.

"When you score 90 points and you commit 20 turnovers, that kind of says the whole thing really.

We were never able to get stops, offence was never the problem, there was just no commitment to defence."

"It’s back to the drawing board, we’ve got to bounce back.”

Tip-off for Sunday’s BBL Championship clash between Plymouth Raiders and Bristol Flyers is 4pm.
