Game recap » Bristol Flyers 95-55 Surrey Scorchers

Bristol Flyers recorded their second-largest victory since joining the BBL, with a 40 point win over the Surrey Scorchers.

Trejon Jacob continued his hot form off the bench, as he shot 57% from beyond the arc, providing a consistent spark for the Flyers’ offence, as Mike Miller added a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds alongside four assists and two steals.

The Flyers’ fifth straight win in the BBL Championship was built on the foundations that have put them firmly in the running for a top-four finish, as their defensive intensity was too much for the visitors to handle, with Bristol amassing a huge 14 steals on the night.

Surrey’s offence struggled to find its rhythm as a result, with the Scorchers’ quarter scoring totals a lowly 18, 12, 12 and 13 throughout the game, compared to the Flyers who never notched less than 20 points in a 10-minute period.

Permutations mean that the Flyers can still secure a record BBL Championship finish tomorrow as they head to Ellesmere Port Sports Village to face the Cheshire Phoenix. If the Flyers win and the London Lions’ visit to Manchester Giants finishes favourably for Bristol, then Coach Kapoulas’ side could finish as high as third in the standings.

Flyers will face an opponent TBC over a two-legged playoff quarter-final (aggregate score) between Friday, April 29th and Tuesday May 3rd.

The playoff quarter-final home leg is expected to be on Saturday, April 30th at 7:30pm.*

*Date of the BBL playoff quarter-final home leg could change depending on opponent. Alternative is Sunday, May 1st at 4pm. All playoff quarter-finalists will be confirmed on Monday, April 25th.
