Game Recap » Bristol Flyers 73-77 Plymouth City Patriots

Bristol Flyers fell to the Plymouth City Patriots in a back and forth battle at the SGS College Arena.

Marcus Evans led all scorers with 22 points, followed by Trejon Jacob, who had 20 of his own.

Trejon Jacob started off hot, scoring the first nine points for the Flyers on a perfect 3-3 from the arc. Marcus Evans split the defence for a tough ‘and-1’ basket to give Flyers their first lead of the game, but the Patriots responded, finishing the first up by two.

The Patriots rode the momentum into the second, extending their lead as Flyers struggled to find the bottom of the net. Frustration mounted for Plymouth, though, as they found themselves in foul trouble. Bristol capitalised and Raphell Thomas-Edwards beat the buzzer with a clutch side-step three to tie the game at the half.

The third saw much of the same as the Patriots got out of the gate firing while Bristol struggled to put the ball in the basket, before a late offensive burst that saw them finish the quarter down three. Jacob beat his defender and went coast to coast to tie the game before Evans knocked down a midrange jumper to take the lead.

A Jacob dunk put the Flyers up by as many as eight, but Plymouth responded with a quick three. Kofi Josephs followed with another to bring the game to within two for the Patriots, who heated up to steal the game on more long-range basket.

A costly turnover in the final minute saw the Patriots ice this one with a dagger three from Rowell Graham-Bell at the other end.

Trejon Jacob finished with 20 points on 62% from beyond the arc and added nine rebounds, whilst keeping Bristol in the game until the end with his clutch shooting.

Bench depth was a key factor as the Patriots’ subs were able to amass 25 bench points versus nine from the Flyers.
