Bristol Flyers stars Roy Owen, Daniel Edozie and Molly James have been listed in the Bristol Active City Hall of Fame.
Bristol Active City is a celebration of the part sport and physical activity plays across Bristol’s many and diverse communities.
Owen has listed for exceptional contribution to basketball over the last five years, coaching the Flyers’ Basketball centre on Saturday mornings at SGS College for children between 8-12 years old.
The Basketball session that Owen provides offers children from across the city an opportunity to have fun and be active. He has been a shining example of how continued hard work pays off and through his position within the Flyers, he motivates and inspires the children to get involved and strive to be the best they can be.
Edozie has received Bristol Active City Hall of Fame recognition for his inspirational work with youngsters across the city. This category celebrates those who have battled against difficult circumstances to achieve beyond expectations and have inspirational stories to tell.
Edozie has an incredible story that includes overcoming adversity from where he first started. From being homeless in the streets of Skid Row Los Angeles, going through the foster care system to graduating from Iowa state University to sign with the Bristol Flyers and representing England in the Commonwealth games, he chooses to display positive character and be a role model in the community of Bristol.
James, 15, has been rewarded with a place in the Bristol Active City young achievers Hall of Fame. This category celebrates Bristol’s up and coming outstanding achievers aged 18 and under.
James has played a significant role with the Bristol Flyers women’s team this season and remains the youngest player in Division One Women’s Basketball. She was most recently named to the Great Britain Under-16s squad and is currently preparing for their European Championship campaign in August.
