Bristol Flyers are delighted to confirm the signing of 6ft 8in Power Forward Daniel Edozie for the 2015/16 season.
London-born Edozie joins the Flyers from NCAA Division One college Iowa State, and signs his first professional contract with a BBL club.
The 22 year-old, who holds a British passport, becomes the second new signing to commit to Coach Kapoulas’ side, following the addition of American Point Guard Cardell McFarland just two weeks ago.
Edozie travelled to the United States when he was 11 with his mother, who set across the Atlantic with a temporary visa in the hope of finding work. At the age of 12, Daniel had entered the foster system in Compton, California, but Daniel finally found a home to call his own with his foster mother Faye Brim. It was there where he would discover Basketball.
“I am very pleased to have signed with the Bristol Flyers and to be playing the sport that I love back in my home country,” Edozie told bristolflyers.co.uk.
“Having an impact on individuals is very important to me, and I’m looking forward to reaching out to the community here in Bristol.”
Coach Kapoulas added, “Daniel is a smart young man with great personality; this was clear from the moment we met.”
“He had to overcome a lot of adversity in his life and he has really taken advantage of the opportunities presented to him. It’s a very inspiring story and I am really glad we are able to offer him his first professional contract coming out of College.”
“Dan brings physicality, athleticism and aggressive play to our roster, as well as his NCAA Div One experience with one of the best US college programmes, Iowa Sate. He will fit very well with our club ethos and I am certain he will inspire our younger players, as well as the wider Bristol community.”
Edozie becomes the seventh player to commit to Bristol Flyers for the 2015/16 season, alongside Greg Streete, Roy Owen, Doug McLaughlin-Williams, Mathias Seilund, Cardell McFarland and Jordan Ranklin.
