Flyers second team duo receive first team call-up

Bristol Flyers has given a BBL opportunity to two of its players from the men’s second team.

Forwards Pasquale Landolfi, a former Club player at Under-18 level and Callum McCulloch, a student at the University of West of England, will train as part of the wider squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Competing in EBL Division Four just four years ago, the men’s second team programme has grown from strength to strength, and now provides an excellent stepping stone towards the BBL programme.

Speaking to bristolflyers.co.uk, Landolfi said: "I’m very excited to be a part of the BBL programme this year. It’s going to be a year full of enjoyment and learning experiences for me.

"Playing and training with the BBL squad will help build my confidence and improve my decision making skills, which is a great opportunity for me to develop as a player.”

Speaking on the opportunity ahead, McCulloch added: "Of course it’s going to be a big step in almost every way, but I can’t wait to learn from Coach Kapoulas and the rest of the team.

"After being out of basketball for so long because of the pandemic, it’s going to be incredible going straight back in at the highest level that can be played in this country. I can’t wait to get stuck in with the coaches and really bringing that energy to every game and practice."

Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said: "Pasquale and Callum are both university-based students who have progressed through our Flyers pathway.

"Their commitment to the programme and approach to improving their game is what really stood out to our coaching staff."
