Flyers retain Corey Samuels

Corey Samuels will return to Bristol Flyers for the 2022/23 British Basketball League season.

The 22-year-old guard has committed to a second full season with his boyhood club, having come through all the junior age groups at the Flyers before joining the SGS Basketball Academy.

Speaking on his return to the Flyers, Samuels said: “It was a pretty straightforward decision to come back for another year.

"Last season was a crazy year for the programme and I felt like I learnt a lot.

"Coach wants me to have more responsibility on the team this year - he wants me to play a bigger role and continue to bring the energy every single day.

"It’s hard to describe what it means to play for your boyhood team. To come from the club’s junior programme to now playing in the BBL means a lot."
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added: "Corey was an absolute warrior last season and it was great to see him step up whenever we needed him during his first year in the league.

"He brings energy and plays with a lot of heart every time he steps on the court and you can really tell it means a lot to him to wear the Flyers uniform and represent our city.

"This season we want Corey to build on what he has learned in his first year and continue to have a bigger role and take more responsibility.

“He's a great role model for all the young players in Bristol and we look forward to seeing his impact and progression this season."
