Great Britian’s chances of qualifying for the second round of the U20 European Championship are all-but over after suffering a 64-53 defeat to Germany on Thursday.
Flyers’ youngsters Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye and Deane Williams both featured in Lignano, Italy, scoring six and five points respectively off the bench.
A place in the second round is still possible, but GB must beat Lithuania in their final Group D game on Saturday and hope that other results work out in their favour.
“I feel the game was won in the paint, defensively and with rebounding,” Head Coach Douglas Leichner told gbbasketball.com.
“They won the rebounding battle with 52 to our 26, which gave them the ability to get extra shots, while we had one, they had multiple attempts due to their 19 offensive rebounds.
