Edozie to depart Bristol Flyers

Daniel Edozie will depart Bristol Flyers this summer, after six years with the club.

The 28-year old made 167 league appearances during his six-year BBL career, and leaves the Flyers as the club’s all-time leader in points (1,338) and rebounds (1,326) in the BBL era.

Edozie joined the Flyers from Iowa State University in 2015 and went on to lead the BBL in rebounds in his debut season (10.9), notching 12 double-doubles in 33 appearances for the club.

He was named club captain in 2018 after helping Flyers to their highest league finish of sixth and a trip to the BBL Play-Off semi-final.

Edozie went on to represent England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games before helping the Flyers reach their first-ever BBL Cup Final in 2020.

Speaking on his departure, Edozie said: "I would really like to give a big special shoutout to not just the coaches and the club, but also the fans, as you guys have made this experience worth it over the last six years.

"We’ve been through some ups, some downs and some serious adversity. But without your continuous support, passion and energy it wouldn’t have made this experience what it is.

"From the bottom of my heart, I really wanted to say a big thank you and I hope to see you guys soon in the future around Bristol."

Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said: "Dan has been a remarkable person to be around and a great role model for the young players in our programme and children across the country.

"His energy and work ethic have been second to none and it has certainly been inspiring to see his journey, from the adversities that he had to overcome as a young man to the growth and achievements that he had as a player and as a person during his six year spell with us.

“We’ve had some great memories from his time with us and we are very thankful for his contribution as a player and a captain to our club. He will always be part of our family and we wish him all the best for the future."
