'Cheshire win a big boost' - Kapoulas

Andreas Kapoulas says his Bristol Flyers side can take great confidence from Saturday’s three point victory against Cheshire Phoenix.

Flyers outscored their opponents by ten points in the third quarter to build a double digit lead, before the visitors fought back in the fourth to take a five point lead of their own in the final two minutes.

Adam Weary sparked a 10-2 finish for Bristol, which included Panos Mayindombe’s go-ahead three-pointer in the final 17 seconds to break Cheshire hearts.

“Great players make great plays and that’s what happened,” Kapoulas told Bristol Flyers TV.

"I dont know what was going through my head in that situation, but it was a huge shot from Panos. He’s been great for us this season - his energy, his enthusiasm and he’s contributing on both ends of the court, it was great to see that ball drop.”

“It was all of the little things that led up to that point as well. Adam (Weary) made that big three in the corner and then the next possession we are able to get a big rebound from Rohndell (Goodwin).

“Brandon (Boggs) made some big plays through the whole game and Mike Vigor too, the list can go on, it was a real team win and it comes down to guys making plays.

We shared it very well on the offensive end, especially in the second half and we were able to get some good looks."

“We didn’t start the game as well on defence, but as the game went on we were able to build that consistency on the defensive end and we got stops when we needed to towards the end of the game.”

Coach K’s men have now won four of their last five games in the BBL Championship and hold six consecutive league wins over the Phoenix dating back over two years.

Brandon Boggs led the Flyers with a team-high 22 points
"The great thing now is that we have a winning record of 12-10, it’s something that we haven’t down in the BBL before,” Kapoulas added.

"We have a couple of tough games coming up with London and Newcastle away, so it’s important to get back to practice and get ourselves ready for those huge games coming up.

"Every game matters right now in the race for the playoffs - we feel we keep on getting better and a win today gives us great confidence for what’s coming ahead."
