Champion calls on the fans ahead of South West derby

Lewis Champion has called on fan power to propel Bristol Flyers back to winning ways against Plymouth Raiders on Friday night (7.30pm).

A capacity crowd is already guaranteed for the South West derby, with Champion looking to build on his career-high 20 point performance against Worcester Wolves last weekend,

Speaking to Bristol Flyers TV, Champion said: “It’s always a good game when Plymouth come here and every game so far this season is sold out, so we definitely want to get a win for the fans.

"I think that’s one of the things that will really help us throughout the season. Win or lose, the fans are always here for us, so anything we can do to show them that they mean a lot to us is big.”
The Raiders have put together a very competitive squad this season, as Champion prepares for a reunion with former NBL Division One teammate Josh Wilcher on Friday night.

"I played with him when I was younger at Reading Rockets,” Champion revealed.

"He’s a very good guard in this league, who can can score and create for his teammates. - he’s also a very good shooter from deep, so he’s one of the guys we need to stop.

"We need to keep him off his left hand and force him into taking tough shots - it looks like he’s getting out more in transition this year, so we need to keep the ball out of his hands and force other players to make big plays."

Friday's game against Plymouth Raiders will be available to watch for FREE, both LIVE and on demand via the official YouTube channel of the British Basketball League.
