Bristol Flyers II to compete in NBL Division Two

Bristol Flyers II will compete in NBL Division Two for the 2019/20 season.

Basketball England has announced its NBL structures for the upcoming campaign, with the Flyers' second team set to compete in the Southern Conference of British Basketball’s third tier for the very first time.

"It's an exciting step forwards for our programme and player pathway,” said Bristol Flyers Academy Coach Chris Bourne.

“We've placed a lot of focus on creating opportunities for our junior and SGS Academy players to be involved in senior basketball for the upcoming season.

“Playing in Division Two will provide an opportunity for them to experience this at a high level as well as giving them an excellent stepping stone towards the BBL programme."

Competing in Division Four just two years ago, the team won promotion into Division Three last year, finishing top of the league with a record of 17-3.

Last season saw Flyers II finish third in the Southern Conference of Division Three, but following a successful application process for promotion, the team will now compete in Basketball England’s second division.

The team will be holding open trials in August - for further details, please contact Seniors@bristolflyersbasketball.co.uk.
