Bristol Flyers have appointed Resource Solutions Group (RSG) chief executive Mike Beesley as its new chairman.
Beesley takes on the role alongside his RSG and chair of the Prince’s Trust South West Development Committee responsibilities and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across many business sectors.
RSG have been lifelong supporters of Bristol City Football Club, a founder partner of the Lansdown Club and have shown commitment to the stable of clubs associated with Bristol Sport after becoming the Flyers’ official front of shirt sponsor in 2014.
Since then Beesley and his staff have become regular attendees at Flyers home games and have shown significant support to the club since their inception into the British Basketball League (BBL).
Andrew Billingham, Bristol Sport chief executive, said: “As we enter our third year in the top flight of professional basketball, it’s important for us to take the learnings from the last couple of years.
"As part of a summer review, I’m delighted to announce that Mike Beesley will take up the role of non-executive chairman to join myself, Andreas Kapoulas, Kevin Hamblin and Martin King on the board.
"Mike brings a wealth of experience from the wider business arena, and has become extremely passionate about Bristol Flyers.
“As a board, we have a clear focus on achieving our core objectives which are sustainability and on court success as we continue to build Bristol Flyers as a franchise.
"I’d also like to thank Martin King for his dedication and commitment as chair over the past couple of years. I’m delighted that he will remain as a director on the board and a core part of the game day team."
Beesley said: "It’s a real honour to be asked to become chairman of Bristol Flyers basketball club.
“I’m very excited to be joining the board, who have a great vision for the future development of the club.
“I am very proud to accept the position as chairman and I hope it demonstrates my increasing confidence that the club is moving in the right direction.”
