Bland Makes Molten BBL Defensive Team Of The Year

‘King of the Swats’ Alif Bland has been named in the Molten BBL Defensive Team of the Year after helping Bristol Flyers gain a Play-Off spot during their first season in the BBL.

The league’s top shot blocker has been a towering presence in the paint all year.

Zaire Taylor of London Lions was also named in the team after picking up the most nominations.

Voted for by the BBL clubs, the former BBL MVP topped the poll and was joined by Great Britain veteran and team-mate Drew Sullivan who has been a regular in this particular line-up throughout his BBL career.

Another Great Britain star is also in the starting five is the experienced Kieron Achara of Glasgow Rocks, who gained recognition for his defensive prowess.

Meanwhile Scott Martin has been a pivotal figure in the treble-winning season of Esh Group Eagles Newcastle and while often heralded for his ruthlessly efficient inside-outside game offensively, the coaches and clubs have also been impressed with his work ethic and defence.
