About Us

Bristol Flyers Community is on a mission to use the power of basketball to create Active. Healthy. Happy. communities of Greater Bristol.

Bristol is a divided city. It has achieved numerous accolades and awards such as the ‘most desirable place to live in the UK’ and has been described as a ‘glamorous, creative, high-tech and prosperous city with a buoyant property market and a great night life’, and as a city that is ‘full of culture’. A great place to live and work, but that is not the case for many.

Our purpose is to use the power of basketball to break down barriers and bring about real, tangible changes to the lives of the people that we work with. Through delivering life-changing interventions every day of the week our amazing staff engage and inspire those that are most in need.

Our Communities

We are responsible for the delivery of basketball interventions across the Greater Bristol region, formally the County of Avon, with a focus on helping communities live Active. Healthy. Happy. lives.

We work with our partner schools and venues, who act as hubs within their community, to deliver our services and programmes, working in partnership to positively impact the families living in these areas.

Alongside our delivery throughout Greater Bristol, we focus our efforts at specific wards, known as our ‘Five Key Wards’.

These wards have been identified as areas in which we believe we can have the biggest impact and where sport has a vital role to play in breaking down barriers, these are:

  • Hartcliffe & Withywood
  • Easton
  • Lawrence Hill
  • Southmead
  • Lawrence Weston
