Report: Taunton Tigers 20-54 Flyers U12s

Flyers U12s picked up their second win of the season over Taunton Tigers in Cardiff before finishing the day off with a victory over Cardiff Archers.

The previous game between these teams was very close and the Flyers were looking for a more convincing win this time round. Bristol came out of the blocks hard and were up early with quick transition layups which all came from great team defence, Flyers led at the end of the 1st by 9 and early nerves were settled.

The 2nd quarter saw the Flyers moving the ball well and the lead quickly extended into double figures. They continued to pile on the pressure and the Tigers were unable to respond.

At half-time the Tigers regrouped and came out more focused slowing down the Flyers. The team found it tough to regain their momentum and they allowed the Tigers to go on a 6-point run. Some great rebounding from Rio Oakey and Tomek Szczot got the Flyers back on track and Flyers saw the game out comfortably.

Flyers went into their second game with Cardiff Archers in confident mood although there was some apprehension a narrow loss to the Welsh side in their previous meeting.

The game started nervously with both teams eager to get the measure of the other. Flyers missed a couple of easy chances with nerves seeming to get the better of them. The players soon began to find their rhythm and the game opened up. Flyers stepped up their defensive intensity and began to run the floor. This gave the Flyers huge confidence and they began to dominate the game.

Throughout the rest of the game the Flyers continued to play with grit and determination. They comfortably controlled the rest of the game with continued great ball movement and communication. This strong team performance saw the game end with a comfortable win.
